The Palatinate Campaign

After Third US Army spearheaded non stop through the Eifel from Bitburg to Koblenz (3 March 1945 - 8 March 1945), it rested a little while between the north bank of the Moselle and the west bank of the Rhine. Instead of attacking across the Rhine, like the First US Army, the Third US Army attacked on 15 March 1945 across the middle sector of the Moselle into the Hundsrück with Bad Kreuznach as objective. After two days the Nahe River was reached. The next objective was the Rhine River between Mainz and Worms. On 20 March 1945 the Third US Army reached the Rhine again. The Palatinate was occupied in only five days.
