Through the Eifel

On 3 March 1945 Third US Army was ready to break through the Siegfried Line (Westwall) towards the Rhine River. The German troops had no more important combat strength - except  2. Panzerdivision. XIIth US Corps reached the Rhine River in only five days. The operation was later nicknamed "The Rhine Rat Race".
