Through the Eifel

On 3 March 1945 the Third US Army was ready to break through the Siegfried Line (Westwall) towards the Rhine. The German troops had no more important combat strength - except the 2. Panzerdivision. The XIIth US Corps reached the Rhine in only five days. The operation was later nicknamed "The Rhine Rat Race".
